Bring Your Own Beamer 2023

During the Spring of 2023 Aurora Picture Show hosted a Bring Your Own Beamer event at the Menil Colection located in Houston, TX.

The piece was created using p5.js along with ml5.js to support motion tracking and an AKAI LPD8 MIDI controller. The visuals are generated using a simple grid of shapes and using perlin noise to affect their color and position. The grid is then applied to the surface of a larger shape. Attendees were able to walk up to the MIDI controller and adjust the visuals live. An IR camera was used to track the face of the user, using the position of their facial features in relation to the camera to adjust some of the grid spacing values.
